Huh.
I noticed this while playing around with the configurator on Audi’s website, and confirmed it on fueleconomy.gov
Last year’s A3 Quattro sedan was rated at 24 city, 31 highway, 27 combined.
the 2019 A3 Quattro sedan is rated at 22 city, 30 highway, 25 combined.
The FWD model is unaffected.
For some perspective, that’s WORSE than the bigger A4 Quattro and A5 (despite having the same power trai n?) , and tied with the Audi A6 Quattro (with the turbo V 6).
Da fuq, Audi?

Probably the new Particulate Filter. I can see a really near future where the masses understand why people delete diesel emissions equipment . It may not be ethical, but they make EVERYTHING but emissions worse.

They did switch from a 6 to 7 speed, although one would think that would increase fuel economy.
Though on edmunds, it is listing cub weight increasing 70lbs.

Ye’, it’s like while Piglet was a 1.4TSi ACT.
is uncha nged, Sandy’s engine is now called the 1.5TSi ACT.
Apparently it’s down to how engine emissions are regulated.
The particulates would be too high for the end of 2018, so by calling it a 1.5, it actually just falls under the limit.

If it’s like the R, it recieves a new exhaust particulate filter, much like diesels. Those also killed efficiency.

I think that is on the A4
going by their press breifings they may have had to tweak settings a bit to get numbers to work.
Additional changes for the 2019 MY
Starting with 2019 MY, rated horsepower will be derived from a single, global kilowatt (kW) metric, confirmed by an SAE horsepower test. All driving and performance characteristics such as fuel economy and 0-60 times remain the same as prior Model Year.
